For the eighth year in a row, the Bligh family honoured the memory of their son, Bentley by hosting the annual Bentley 4 Babies family fundraising event which invited the community to take part in a car wash, bottle drive, and BBQ. The event raised $2,500 in support of BC Women’s Hospital Foundation, which brings the Bligh’s cumulative fundraising total to an amazing $16,500! Thank you to the Bligh family for their dedication and continued support of the hospital!

The Bligh’s tell their touching story of the inception of this event:

Our son Bentley, who was in the NICU at BC Women's Hospital seven years ago, really created a ripple effect the day he was born. Ever since, we have had so many wonderful experiences, met so many amazing people, and done so many great things as a family and as a community. He has brought us all together to raise awareness and support for such an astounding Hospital.

Bentley was born at 26 weeks 1 lb 11 oz and admitted to the NICU at the Women's Hospital on April 18, 2011. Bentley fought hard for almost 30 days - he was a feisty one, as are each of his four siblings! Unfortunately his little lungs just could not function on their own, his health took a downward spiral very quickly, and he passed away on May 16, 2011.

Although his time with us was short, he has made a big impact. We are thankful for everything that has led us up to where we are today, that our little guy is not forgotten, and that we were able to make a tragic situation into a positive one.
