Uncover, reflect, and move while investing in women’s health with your 2021 Wellness Week pass , presented by our Young Women’s Council!

Join the YWC along with incredible speakers and facilitators to have enriching conversations on the intersectional impacts of the gender health gap, take time to acknowledge the Indigenous land we occupy before grounding yourself through breathwork, and collectively move your bodies in a meaningful way. Attend all three events for the complete experience, or tune in for just one!

Uncovering The Gender Health Gap | Virtual Health Panel | November 15, 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Did you know that it was not until the 1990’s that women were included in health research trials in Canada?

Up until this point, male physiology served as a baseline. This, and other gender-based inequities, continue to impact our healthcare system to this day and can have a bearing on the medical attention and treatment you receive.

Join Global Health Epidemiologist and Public Health Practitioner, Dr. Angela Kaida, as well as President + CEO of BC Women’s Health Foundation, Genesa Greening for this important panel discussion on how women (and afab’s) can foster greater support from the health system, the intersectional barriers impacting quality of care, and practical tools you can use to advocate for your health or someone you love.

Reflecting With ‘The Breath’ | Virtual Workshop | November 17, 7:00 – 8:00pm

Wind down your day with intention and experience ‘The Breath’ with the incredible Kate Horsman.

We will begin the event with Elder + Dr. Roberta Price who will lead us through land acknowledgment, followed by meditation to set our intentions for the breathwork to follow.

During this virtual session we hope you take time to connect with yourself and your surroundings, experience clarity, stress relief, anxiety relief, a deeper connection to your body and self-empowered healing (you are the one doing the work).

Moving Through ‘The Block’ | In-Person + Virtual Movement Class | November 20, 1:00 – 2:00 pm

Join A La Ligne pilates instructors, Katie McKenzie and Taren Grewall for one of their signature classes: The Block. 

This 45-minute movement-based class will be hosted at Turf DWTN or virtually via Zoom by the locally beloved Vancouver duo, who both have experience leading classes through inward connection that goes deeper than muscle. Our final event will leave guests feeling rejuvenated and connected to mind & body.

The Young Women’s Council supports the BC Women’s Health Foundation by fostering a broader, bolder dialogue on women’s health. It is comprised of young professionals who identify as women, are leaders in their community, and have a passion for advancing the full spectrum of women’s health.
