Vancouver’s very own Michael Bublé gave an extraordinary performance, generously donating his time to support BC Women’s Hospital Foundation.
This event was dedicated to the expansion of BC Women’s Hospital’s Birthing Suites – striving to offer more families a singular space for their entire experience of childbirth, without moving from room to room.
Not only was this a significant investment in ten new suites, but also marked a paradigm shift in the way care will be provided for these new families in Vancouver. With 20% of deliveries in BC taking place at BC Women’s each year, this expansion will mean more families will be able to stay together, and more women will be valued at the centre of their care.
Friends and supporters of the Foundation had come together at past galas to furnish BC Women’s Neonatal ICU at the Teck Acute Care Centre. This was marked with the opening of their new facility exactly one year ago, featuring seventy private rooms. This year, the Foundation took everything they advocated for in this campaign and determined that every family, with every type of birth experience, deserved those same things.
“As mothers ourselves, we each have our own unique story about the births of our children. But we all wanted the same thing: to be close to this newest little member of our families.” – GLOW Gala co-chairs, Heidi Seidman, Shanaz Lalji and Sofia Sayani.
CTV Vancouver news anchors Mi-Jung Lee and Scott Roberts (above left) emceed the lively program, while guests enjoyed a four-course dinner generously donated by the Pan Pacific Hotel. It was truly an exceptional evening.
GLOW hosted Vancouver’s elite business, healthcare and philanthropic leaders. It featured a recreated Birthing Suite (pictured above, right) for guests to walk through as they entered, making the impact of their generosity tangible.
“We’ve already proven that BC Women’s Hospital can provide the best family-centred NICU care in North America. Now, thanks to funds raised at GLOW Gala, we’ll do the same for all births.” – Genesa Greening, President + CEO of BC Women’s Hospital Foundation.
