Milk - check. Fruit – check. Scooter?
Raffle winner checks out with a Vespa.
When Nadine Hofmann went grocery shopping a couple of months ago, she didn’t think she’d be checking out with a shiny new Vespa Scooter. What she did do that day was buy a Birdies for Babies raffle ticket in aid of BC Women’s.
“I know BC Women’s well and they do a very good job,” explained a delighted Nadine. “So I bought a ticket and, like you do, kind of forgot all about it. I was totally amazed to win!”
A project manager at UBC, Nadine is still getting used to her new wheels, but hopes to use the Vespa for her commute to work. “It’s a great scooter, and I’m still getting used to it,” she said. “It’s all hand-controlled and heavier than a bicycle, so I need more practice!”
With gas prices on the rise, once Nadine gets scooting in earnest her kind support of BC Women’s is set to pay off in style.
