Dr. Jan Christilaw wins 2015 Woman of Distinction Award

More than 1,200 guests and volunteers gathered on May 26 at the Vancouver Convention Centre to honour inspiring women and their achievements at the 2015 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards.
Among the nominees was BC Women's Hospital's Dr Jan Christilaw, who was recognized as a Woman of Distinction in the category of Health and Wellness.

Recognized nationally, the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards honours extraordinary women leaders, while raising much-needed funds for YWCA programs and services that improve the lives of thousands of people each year across Metro Vancouver.

In selecting Christilaw in the Health and Wellness category, the judges wrote that she "has an unwavering commitment to delivering, promoting and advocating for healthy lives and communities. She has made a significant and sustained difference in Metro Vancouver while empowering her community to change or better their lives through improved health and wellness practices. Jan Christilaw exemplifies these qualities as a powerhouse for advancing women's health in BC and a global leader in maternal care. Women and families everywhere benefit from her influence, excellence and generosity."
