Almost $300,000 raised - Thank you!

A Walk in the Park for Women’s Health

Stanley Park event attracts thousands of supporters, despite the rain

Thanks to the help of the fundraisers, sponsors, donors and racers who took part in the 2008 Ismaili Walk in Stanley Park on August 24, 2008, the health and lives of thousands of women have been improved.

The walk, which is organized annually by the Shia Ismaili Muslim Community, raised almost $300,000 for the Women’s Health Research Institute (WHRI) at BC Women’s. And, despite heavy rain, enthusiasm for the annual event wasn’t dampened, with more than 2,500 walkers braving the pelting rain.

“Together, our small steps help produce giant leaps in women’s health research.”

Volunteer Chair of BC Women’s Foundation Sarah Morgan-Silvester said, “It’s a terrific testament to the community that people can be so supportive of the hospital, and especially the research done by the WHRI, by turning out in such impressive numbers on such a day.”

A special ‘thank you’ to everyone who took steps to improve the lives of women in B.C.!
