Birthday Club

June 24, 2017

Saturday June. 24th - Most children are hoping for the newest toys, books and games for their birthday. For Teagan and Danica it was more important to use their birthday to raise funds for the hospital that brought them into the world.

Thank you to the Chung family for raising over $36,000 over the last 5 years!

Shannon Chung’s routine birth quickly turned into an emergency delivery when her first child, Danica, presented foot first in June of 2012. “Suddenly my wife and baby were in trouble, I knew the situation was serious, but I also knew we were in the best hands, thanks to the rapid, professional response to this emergency,” says husband Nelson about his family’s extended time spent in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at BC Women’s Hospital.

Today, the Chung family has dedicated an extensive amount of time, labour and money as participants and associate creators of the BC Women’s Birthday Club. As participants, they encourage their party guests made up of friends and family to submit donations in exchange for birthday gifts to help raise money for BC Women’s NICU

“We are proud to say that the girls have raised more than $36,000.  Money that we know will go a long way towards ensuring other moms and babies receive the highest level of life-saving care, just like we did.”

This past June, for the 4th year in a row, the Chung's have pulled off yet another fantastic party, raising over $16,000 for the NICU in this year alone!  The festivities included face painting by Living Magic, story time and lots of games for the kiddies. But best of all Charmaine Chang of Cakes In Focus supplied a beautiful cake just to sweeten up the already awesome day, with Justine Leung also providing the family with some amazing photographs to keep forever.

Nelson and Shannon have gone above and beyond to support BC Women’s, and we are incredibly grateful to the Chung Family along with their friends and extended family members who helped them reach their fundraising goals.
