Totem Pole Unveiling at BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre
Join the BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre Indigenous Health program as they host a totem pole unveiling by artist Calvin Hunt, and a dedication ceremony honouring the work led by Cheryl Ward in Indigenous Cultural Safety.
The event will include an opening welcome from a representative of the Musqueam Nation, remarks from BC Women’s executive leadership by Dr. Jan Christilaw, and words by Chief Robert Joseph. There will also be special guests from the BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre Foundation, Central City Foundation, and an Indigenous performance.
The Indigenous Outdoor Sacred Healing Space provides women and their families with a safe place to gather and carry out healing ceremonies that align with their own traditions and values.

Indigenous Health at BC Women's is a provincial program with a mandate to ensure that Indigenous women, girl and their families, particularly in rural and remote communities, receive optimal health care, advocacy and support. This Program provides services to Indigenous women and their families receiving care at BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre, and offers outreach services for Indigenous women and families in their communities across the province.
