Calendar photosBC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre Foundation has reached an agreement with Photographer Kevin James Day of Vancouver to produce a 2007 twelve-month calendar as a major fundraising project. This initiative is the first of its kind ever undertaken by the Foundation.

BC Women's Director of Development James Carruthers sees this as an opportunity to visually illustrate the exceptional work at BC Women's Hospital.  “It is not just another hospital. There is an intense focus on the health and well-being of mother and child. These images visually define our mission as a highly specialized healthcare provider.”

“It is a natural fit,” says Day of the collaboration. Not only are his phenomenal photographs of children perfectly fitting for the cause; his son Skylar is one of BC Women's ‘Miracle Babies’. “Had it not been for the care and support we received through the BC Women's Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Program, Anna and I would not have had our son.”

The surreal image of Skylar Day sleeping atop an upside-down Gerber Daisy will grace the cover of the 2005/2006 BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre Foundation Annual Report and the cover of the calendar. Month after month, the images promise to evoke smiles and laughter.

Day’s photographs of babies have received considerable media attention and numerous comparisons to the work of prolific New Zealand photographer Anne Geddes. He has been photographing professionally in the Vancouver area since 1991. His studio facility is located inside the Bay Downtown at Granville and Georgia. His website address is kjdkids.com.

calendarBC Women's is Canada’s busiest maternity hospital with over 7600 births each year. More than 1400 of those babies require highly specialized care costing up to $4000.00 per baby, per day. The Recurrent Loss Program services all of Western Canada. The research performed in this institution benefits humanity on a worldwide scale.

The Foundation is seeking retails distribution channels to bring this exciting project to market. An expected 20,000 copies will hit the streets by mid-October. The calendar will retail for $15.00.

Representatives of the Foundation, Kevin James Day and his wife Anna are available for comment or interview relating to this charitable project.
